One of the issues that players may have with Culdcept Saga is a fundamental aspect of its design. Playing games to unlock new cards is quite rewarding, and earning new play options is one of the highlights of the game. You'll often want to create different books of cards in order to have specialized creature and spell sets for play on certain maps. There's an enormous variety of creatures to experiment with, each imbued with different attributes and varying costs and usage constraints, so you can spend hours and hours mixing and matching your combatants until you find a mix that you love. Earth creatures are typically defensive, and can sometimes call in creatures from your hand as support. Water creatures are more defensive, often able to neutralize some enemy attacks, while air creatures sometimes get to attack first, even when on the defensive. Fire creatures are typically more powerful, at an advantage when attacking to control properties. ![]() There are also neutral and multi-attribute creatures, to round out the mix. ![]() The creatures of Culdcept Saga are separated into four color types matching the colors of the squares on the board: fire for red, earth for green, air for yellow and water for blue. It's thus of great importance to only upgrade spaces being defended by creatures with enough hit points and defensive ability to survive an assault. Unlike Monopoly, you will often hope to land on opposing big-money spaces if you have a powerful creature and support item in hand to launch an attack. The more you invest in a property, the higher the tolls that opposing players have to pay if they land on it and fail to take it over. Unlike Monopoly, the players decide what properties are most valuable by paying to increase their value. The mains strategy revolves around controlling properties on a board, much like in Monopoly. Culdcept Saga is an example of a game that doesn't fit squarely into any one genre, providing a play experience unlike any other. As a card game, there's strategy involved in building a deck filled with enough creatures to defend and capture board spaces, and supplying them with the weapons, armor, and spells to back them up. As a board game, the throw of the die will determine your fate, either giving you the opportunity to control parts of the board or sending you towards a battle to contend for an opponent's space. Gamers can further modify the game with their own style when they alter their characters' appearances using parts won during matches.Culdcept Saga is a game of luck and strategy. Players can fortify their decks and develop strategies in single player mode, then apply those tactics against up to 3 friends on Xbox Live or on a single console. ![]() As they maneuver their way around the board and land on occupied properties, opponents can opt to pay a fee for their brief stay or attack the guarding creature to inhabit the zone. Using cards, players can customize different decks to assist in their struggle for territorial dominance. In Culdcept Saga, individuals known as Cepters move around a game board by the roll of the dice, using magical cards to call upon creatures and cast spells to occupy each area they encounter. How you use them depends on your objective – your game, it's your choice. The collection of cards in your book is your weapon. Conquer the elements, takeover lands, and defeat your foes. Join the journey of two friends who battle together to fight enemies and bring peace back to their country. The merging of board game and trading card game brings a unique, engrossing gameplay experience to the Xbox 360 in Culdcept SAGA.
